Meet Dr. Robert Rand
Dr. Robert Rand
I am a board-certified family practice doctor. I went to Ross University School of Medicine, a Caribbean medical school on the island of Dominica. My third and fourth year of medical school were spent in Bakersfield, California. My residency was spent here in Reno at the University of Nevada School of Medicine, Family Practice Program. I studied acupuncture through the UCLA School of Medicine – Acupuncture for Physicians Program.
I have a strong interest in, and do quite a bit of pain management including nerve block procedures in my clinic. I utilize several different modalities in my clinic to treat pain. I practice a lot of alternative medicine but use standards of scientific “evidence-based medicine” while practicing both conventional and supplements and remedies in my practice.
I am an associate clinical professor at the University of Nevada Reno School of Medicine and have medical students as well as nurse practitioner and physician assistant students from other institutions, who do rotations in the clinic. I am an avid outdoors person and was a ski patrolman for 10 years, many of them full time. I worked at Mt. Rose locally. I also like to run, scuba dive, and read in my free time.
